January 20, 2009 - a truly historic day! The Bush administration finally came to an end and America achieved a milestone in the fight against racism with Barack Obama taking the oath of office - becoming the first African American to rule the country.
I watched the Inauguration online via CNN.com Live in cooperation with facebook which was really quite something as you were able to share your thoughts instantly with people from all around the world.
Obama is definitely the embodiment of hope but I am quite concerned that the people now have tremendous expectations that are very hard to live up to. Change is a process that takes time - especially if there's so much that needs to be improved. Well, I wish everyone patience and continous confidence that change is about to come as I hope Obama and his team aim to solve the problems in the long term. I'm always a bit skeptic about quick fixes as they often have consequences that become future problems. Well, we'll see...
